"We bring history to life!"

QHS brings the stories of Africa's Kings and Queens (leaders) into the classroom via THE FESTIVAL OF AFRICAN ROYALTY and ROYAL COURT, its companion reading/literacy program.

  • FIRST  ~ Teachers, via professional development share the FAR stories on the Kings and Queens and their positive contributions in class, using the Language Arts to access subjects across the core curriculum.
  • SECOND ~ Students complete the selection and a standard-based lesson.
  • THIRD ~ They travel to a local university by bus during school to study under the guidance of Jali Adisa (the African Storyteller) and his regal cast of student performers.  Storybook figures of African Queens and Kings and their contributions are brought to life through QUEENS OF THE NILE, NOW and a music score donated by Stevie Wonder, entitled Journey through the Secret Life of Plants.
  • *FINALLY ~ A FAR college tours lets the students explore how higher education in the arts, math and science can aid them as future leaders and contributors to our society.
