What Is FAR?

A STANDARD BASED CULTURAL FIELD TRIP

The Festival of African Royalty is the first fieldtrip of its kind produced in accordance with national History / Social Studies Standards that recognizes African American’s rich royal heritage.

AN ACHIEVEMENT GAP ACTION STEP

Currently, QHS FESTIVAL OF AFRICAN ROYALTY (FAR) is one of the most successful African American Student Achievement Gap efforts. Since 2000, over 50,000 K-12 students have attended this exciting new standards based school field trip to learn about Culture and College!

A CULTURAL RELEVANT & RESPONSIVE LITERACY PROGRAM

FAR features the Society’s signature royal history pageant, "QUEENS OF THE NILE, NOW," a royal history stage performances which highlights the Great Kings and Queens of Africa and a companion literacy component, ROYAL COURT
